In several metallurgic processes, an oxygen-free atmosphere is fundamental in order to avoid the development of oxides.
Nitrogen is widely used in the following thermical treatments:

  • Annealing of steel, copper, aluminium and other metals and alloys.

  • Sintering of steel and aluminium.

  • Protection during brazing, cutting and welding.

  • Hardening of steel in vaccum furnaces.
